Technical conviction ahead of Nopan's latest funding round
Ahead of Nopan's latest funding round, Newion ran an X-Ray on the company's product and technology. The assessment confirmed the strength of its technical foundations and gave Newion the confidence to proceed without requiring an additional, extended technical due diligence process.

Newion was preparing to invest in Nopan, a performance platform for account and wallet payments. Before signing the term sheet, the investment team wanted a fast, objective assessment of the company's product and technology, particularly for a business where the infrastructure is central to the value proposition. Following the round, Nopan announced that it had raised €7.2 million in total funding to date.
How it went
The X-Ray
A comprehensive assessment of the codebase and the engineering patterns across it, benchmarked against more than 300 previous engagements. The assessment was completed in approximately one day and required minimal time from the Nopan team.
Investor read-out
A focused review with Newion of the findings from the X-Ray, presented in the context of the investment decision.
“I had never experienced a technical due diligence process that required so little time from our team while still producing such a useful assessment. The report gave Newion a clear view of our technology and gave us a helpful external perspective on our engineering priorities.”
What the X-Ray showed
- Strong, modern and scalable foundations for a regulated payments platform.
- No end-of-life dependencies identified across the assessed technology portfolio.
- Robust security practices, including appropriate tokenisation and encryption patterns.
- A lean engineering team using AI as a practical capacity multiplier.
The outcome
- The assessment gave Newion the technical conviction it needed to proceed with the term sheet.
- No separate, extended technical due diligence process was required.
- Nopan received a prioritised set of engineering recommendations, all of which could be addressed without fundamental changes to the architecture.
